WOODLAND HILLS : Foes of Dirt Transfer File Suit to Stop It

Share

Opponents of a plan to move more than 30,000 truckloads of dirt from the Warner Ridge development on the Pierce College farm filed a lawsuit Tuesday to stop the transfer.

The suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court by the Coalition to Save Pierce Farm, contends that the dirt removal, scheduled to begin within several weeks, could affect the surrounding area in ways that were not discussed in an environmental impact report.

The Los Angeles Community College District and Warner Ridge Partners failed to discuss traffic, possible problems with water runoff and biological impacts of the plan, the suit said.

A hearing on a request for a temporary restraining order against the soil transfer was put off until Friday.

Jack Spound of Warner Ridge Partners said he is “confident that all of the environmental and other effects of the project have been properly heard.”

If it goes forward, the deal is expected to net $2.1 million in cash and improvements for Pierce.
