Stanton to Auction Surplus Office Equipment Saturday

Share

The city will hold a silent auction of surplus desks, chairs, filing cabinets and other office equipment Saturday.

City Engineer Fred Wickman said the office equipment became obsolete when city workers moved to the new Civic Center in July. The city now uses workstations instead of free-standing desks.

“With the workstations you can get four people into a lot smaller footage area,” Wickman said. “The stuff we had at the old place was not uniform. It would be hard to make it all fit and be space-efficient.”

The auction will be from 9 a.m. to noon at 10660 Western Ave., the old City Hall. All items must be taken from the site that day.

Denise Archambault, assistant to the city manager, said filing cabinets with two, three, four and five drawers will be for sale. The city also will sell wooden and metal desks, computer desks, desk chairs with rollers, 41 stationary chairs, typewriter stands and two conference tables.

Two sofas, three love seats, plastic patio furniture and two kitchen tables also will be sold.
