United Nations Day will be celebrated Sunday with dancing and a buffet featuring food from several countries.

However, the big attraction will be a round-table discussion on global issues. The main topic is “Rights of Indigenous People.”

The annual event, which will be at Mount of Olives Lutheran Church, 24772 Chrisanta Drive, from 2 to 4:30 p.m., is free and open to the public.

About 100 high school students from the honors programs of several local schools are expected to participate. Students in the program, known as the Model United Nations, will sponsor a simulated debate of the United Nations’ Economic and Social Council.

A series of guest speakers will be featured, including Mission Viejo Mayor Robert D. Breton and Dwight Howe from the Southern California Indian Center.

People are asked to bring a can of food for the center.
