Cale Gundy showed no effects from being knocked out a week ago, passing for three touchdown passes and running for another score in leading No. 17 Oklahoma to a 38-23 victory over Kansas on Saturday at Norman, Okla.

Gundy didn’t practice at full speed until Wednesday because of the concussion suffered in the Colorado game. But he completed 19 of 26 passes for 324 yards.

“I’m not going to change my style and throw the ball away or run out of bounds,” Gundy said. “I’m here to win games and I’m going to do what I can to try to win games.”

Oklahoma, which is 6-1 overall and 2-1 in the Big Eight, blitzed Kansas with three second-quarter touchdowns on its way to a 31-7 halftime lead. The Jayhawks (3-5, 1-2) ran the ball impressively in the second half and got within 31-21, but two fourth-quarter drives ended inside the 10 without any points.

The Jayhawks weren’t able to overcome the big early deficit although freshman tailback June Henley ran for 178 yards.

Iowa State 20, Oklahoma State 17--James McMillion scored on a fourth-down, six-yard screen pass from Bob Utter with 5:12 to play to life the Cyclones at Ames, Iowa.

Utter, who had lost his starting job to Todd Doxzon, got Iowa State (2-5, 1-2) into the end zone after Ty Stewart kicked field goals of 58 and 44 yards to help the Cyclones rally from a 17-6 halftime deficit. It was the longest kick of Stewart’s career and tied the school record Alex Giffords set against Oklahoma in 1979.

Oklahoma State (3-4, 0-3) had a chance to tie in the final minute, but Lawson Vaughn missed a 39-yard field-goal attempt with 25 seconds to play.
