Selling Price of Ventura County Houses Continue to Skid

Resales of single-family houses in Ventura County were off slightly last month but remained well ahead of the year-earlier pace, according to Dataquick Information Systems.

Prices, however, continued to skid, the La Jolla-based service reported.

Sales of previously owned houses in the county totaled 576 in September, compared to 596 in August and 484 in September, 1992.

The houses sold at a median price of $202,000, down from $215,000 in August and $210,000 in September, 1992.

Condominium resales totaled 132 last month versus 138 in August and 145 a year earlier, Dataquick said. The median condo price in September was $141,000, up from $135,000 the previous month but down from $147,000 in September, 1992.

In the first nine months of this year, a total of 6,451 new and previously owned homes were sold in the county--a 3% increase over the same period last year, according to TRW REDI Property Data.

The average price of all homes sold in the first nine months of 1993 was $234,876--down 1% from a year earlier, TRW REDI said.
