Suspect Tied to 2nd Simi Valley Bank Robbery

An armed man who held up a Simi Valley bank branch Thursday is believed to be the same man who struck another Simi Valley bank earlier in the week, authorities said Friday.

The man, described as slender, about 5-foot-10 and in his early 30s, entered a branch of First Interstate Bank on Los Angeles Avenue shortly after noon, FBI Special Agent Gary Auer said.

The robber was dressed in dark clothing and had shoulder-length hair that witnesses believe was a wig, Auer said.

The man approached a teller, handed her a note and placed a device that he said was a bomb on the counter, Auer said. The robber also showed the teller the butt of a gun.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the robber fled on foot.

Auer said the man’s description matched that of the robber of a Simi Valley branch of the Bank of A. Levy on Tuesday.
