GLENDALE : $1-Million Bail Set in Weapons Case

One of two men facing weapons charges was ordered held in lieu of $1-million bail after a hearing at Glendale Municipal Court, officials said.
Emil Dechebal Matasareanu, 27, of Altadena was being held Friday at the Central Jail in Los Angeles. A motion by his attorney to reduce bail was denied earlier this week when Matasareanu was arraigned.
Matasareanu and Larry Eugene Phillips Jr., 23, were arrested late Saturday after Glendale police reported finding them in a vehicle containing a cache of ammunition, explosives and firearms.
The two men were charged Tuesday with three felony counts each of conspiracy to commit robbery, grand theft auto and unlawful assault weapon activity, according to court records.
If convicted, each could receive up to 10 years in prison, said Supervising Deputy Dist. Atty. James Grodin, who filed the case.
