Microsoft Introduces MS-DOS Upgrade: In an effort to correct what some critics saw as shortcomings of an earlier release, Microsoft is to announce today the release of its latest version of the operating system used to run most personal computers. The version includes new features that help prevent data from being mistakenly erased. To reach out to the millions of computer users who haven’t upgraded their MS-DOS because they can’t decipher computer manuals, Microsoft is offering its new software bundled with a revised edition of the best-selling book “DOS for Dummies.” The new DOS aims to resolve some problems that arose in the last version, DOS 6.0, released earlier this year. MS-DOS 6.2 Upgrade for Dummies is expected to sell in stores for $50. MS-DOS 6.0 users can buy the upgrade for $9.95.
