FULLERTON — A Mobil Oil Co. employee pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges that he murdered a co-worker and tried to murder another during a training session Saturday in Brea.
Police said Rudy Vibangco Terrenal, 56, of Buena Park, went berserk during a class on handling hazardous materials, police said. Terrenal used a handgun to kill David Dawkins, 44, of Chino and to wound Steven Bowling, 45, of Lakewood, they said.
Deputy District Attorney Patrick K. Donahue, who filed the charges Monday against Terrenal, said he has not yet uncovered a motive for the shooting.
Terrenal entered his not-guilty plea in Municipal Court in Fullerton and was ordered held without bail.
According to co-workers, Dawkins was a supervisor and a 22-year veteran with Mobil Oil, and Bowling worked at the company for more than a decade. Police would only say that Terrenal agreed to go to the training session after learning the other two would be there.
