GLENDALE : City to Process Burbank Tickets

Share

The Glendale City Council voted Tuesday to spend $78,000 to set up a program under which the city will process parking tickets from Burbank. Glendale hopes to make the money back when Burbank begins paying to have its tickets processed in December.

City staff said the money allocated Tuesday will help establish the parking ticket processing program for Burbank, scheduled to begin sometime in December. That amount is expected to be offset in a year, once Burbank begins returning Glendale’s monthly billing statements.

Under an agreement approved by both city councils in September, Glendale is charging Burbank $1.21 per ticket for processing services only. Glendale city officials expect to process an average of 64,000 tickets per year.

Burbank had been looking for a new place to process its tickets because, as of Jan. 1, a new state law prohibits any city from using the court system to collect and record fines.

Glendale, which has its own processing system operated by the Police Department, offered its services to Burbank in early September.
