WILSHIRE CENTER : Dialogue on Black, Jewish Communities

Two prominent religious leaders of the city’s African-American and Jewish residents will lead a discussion on the relationship between the two communities Nov. 14 at 8 p.m. at the Wilshire Boulevard Temple, 3663 Wilshire Blvd.

The Rev. Cecil Murray of the First AME Church and Rabbi Harvey Fields of the Wilshire Boulevard Temple will engage in a dialogue they call “Blueprint for the Future: Remembering the Legacies of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel.”

Warren Olney, host of KCRW-FM’s “Which Way L.A.?” program, will moderate the discussion. Howard I. Friedman, past national president of the American Jewish Committee, and Barbara Solomon, dean of USC’s Graduate School, will respond to comments by Murray and Fields. Time will be set aside for audience participation.

The free event is sponsored by the Skirball Institute on American Values of the American Jewish Committee and the Hebrew Union College, Jewish Institute of Religion.
