Inaccurate Data on Test Success Rate
The Times editorial “No Quick Fix Exists to Help the Children” (Oct. 24) contained inaccurate information regarding the pass rate of Garden Grove Unified School District students on the rigorous advanced placement examinations.
In 1992-93, 71% of district students passed one or more of the AP tests, thereby earning college credit for their academic efforts. The 15% rate reported by The Times is a different and often misinterpreted statistic reflecting the number of exams passed per 100 seniors enrolled in the district.
