Civil Service Strike Closes Tower of London

LONDON —
Thousands of tourists hoping to see the crown jewels and other attractions at the Tower of London found the castle closed Friday as the red-coated Beefeaters joined a one-day civil service strike.
About 250,000 civil servants in six unions participated in the work stoppage to protest government plans to privatize some civil servant jobs.
