PORT HUENEME : Navy’s Role Is Breakfast Topic

The Navy’s role in the Ventura County economy will be the subject of a breakfast meeting Wednesday morning at the Naval Construction Battalion Center, to be followed by a guided tour of the base.

The event is sponsored by the U.S. Navy and the Port Hueneme Chamber of Commerce.

Capt. J. Scott Beachy, commanding officer of the Port Hueneme Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, will address the 7:30 a.m. meeting, to be held at Duke’s Place on the Seabee base. The public is asked to use the Sunkist Gate off Ventura Road to enter the base.

Beachy will discuss the center’s operations, its economic contribution to the county and the community activities of its personnel.

Following Beachy’s address and breakfast, Rear Adm. David J. Nash, commanding officer of the Naval Construction Battalion Center, will lead a tour of the 1,615-acre facility.
