Recall Necessary?

Is a recall in Simi Valley necessary? A group of some very caring parents think it may be. They are frustrated by a number of concerns which they feel directly affects the quality of education their children are receiving in Simi Valley.

As a member of this community, with two children attending one of our finest elementary schools, I can identify with the concerns of these parents. I too want the best for my children, but I also want what is best for our community.

Historically, recall elections have proven to be bitter and divisive for a community such as ours. For most of these parents, this is their first experience in a recall effort. A key factor in running a successful recall effort is finding candidates who you feel would best represent your beliefs to replace those you wish to recall. Quality candidates may not wish to participate in a recall election but would rather wait to participate in the normal, less divisive setting of a general election.

My hope is that these parents will reserve this burst of energy and enthusiasm and put it into working together this coming year to find the best candidates and to run the best school board campaign this community has ever experienced.
