ROCK WARS: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame staff can breathe easy: It looks like there won’t be a repeat of last January’s embarrassing induction debacle in which John Fogerty snubbed his old Creedence Clearwater Revival mates and performed some of the group’s old songs with an all-star band.

The concern for the coming ceremony surrounded the Band, whose members haven’t been on the best of terms--as we see from the potshots that Levon Helm takes at Robbie Robertson in the former’s autobiography “This Wheel’s on Fire.”

Much of the acrimony chronicled revolves around the Band’s break-up, marked by “The Last Waltz” concert. Robertson pushed for the group’s end, while Helm fought in vain to keep things going, and their relationship remained strained for much of the time since.

But Robertson’s manager, Jared Levine, says that Robertson and Helm have already discussed performing together at the Hall of Fame ceremony in January in New York. Robertson, who Levine says hasn’t read Helm’s book, oversaw the musical performances in the ’93 Hall of Fame event and is expected to fill the same role for ’94.
