A Tour Program for the Solo Senior

Share

A new program of fully escorted tours designed for single senior travelers, Singletours, is now being offered for 1994 by Love Holidays/Uniworld of Encino. The tour schedule was based on passenger evaluation forms, interviews with mature travelers and additional research among travelers over 50 years old who are widowed or divorced, or have spouses who prefer not to travel.

Most respondents stated a preference for longer stops, so the new tour program features two- and three-night stays in each city visited. Hotels are usually in small towns or villages. Each trip concentrates on a small region, with well-informed tour managers. Tours include special cultural performances, plus visits with local citizens over dinner or tea.

All tours feature a full breakfast daily and most dinners, including the first night of each stop. There are welcome and farewell dinners, with wine. Although prices are less costly for shared accommodations, single-occupancy rates are modest. Still, each guest is given a list of participant names and hometowns. Seating for meals alternates with other members of the tour group.
