BURBANK : Planning Committees Draw Little Interest

Share

Too few residents have signed up for a series of planning committees in four adjoining Burbank neighborhoods, city officials said Monday.

“We haven’t received a whole lot of applications yet,” Assistant City Clerk Mike McIninch said. Today is the last day to sign up for the committees, which will tackle planning issues in the newly formed Burbank Center Planning area.

The planning area is bounded by Burbank, Glenoaks and Victory boulevards along with the Glendale city limits. It is broken down into four sub-areas, called City Center, City Center West, South San Fernando and Lake Street.

The committees will address issues including parking, housing and business.

All four committees are to have six members, except for the Lake Street committee, which will have only four. The committee members are unpaid and must be Burbank residents.

Burbank has had a few citizen advisory committees for different areas in recent years, including groups in the Media District, the Rancho neighborhood, and most recently, the Magnolia Park neighborhood.

The Burbank Center planning committees are expected to be needed for at least a year.

The Burbank City Council is scheduled to appoint committee members next Tuesday.
