GARDENA : Man Shot to Death After Answering Knock at Door

Share

A 30-year-old Gardena man was shot and killed in his apartment after he answered a knock at his door shortly after 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

Investigators believe the killers may have been gang members who mistook the victim for someone else, said Gardena Police Lt. Gary Cherry.

Two gunmen fired shots at Tracy Takahashi, who lived with two roommates in the 16900 block of South Dalton Avenue. Takahashi, a field chemist for an environmental cleanup company in Wilmington, was taken to Memorial Hospital of Gardena, where he was pronounced dead.

Both roommates were home at the time but neither saw the shooting, Cherry said. No arrests have been made.
