SAN FERNANDO VALLEY : Serial Child Molester Now Suspected in 26 Attacks
Los Angeles police now suspect that a serial child molester may be responsible for as many as 26 attacks, including two rapes, in the San Fernando Valley, a police official said Thursday.
Four newly reported cases include the rape of a female victim in North Hollywood about Nov. 4, said acting Valley Cmdr. John Moran. He said the victim called police after hearing reports about the molester.
During a news conference Thursday at police headquarters, Moran staunchly defended his department’s investigation.
Police have been stung by criticism from parents and school officials over the crimes, in which schoolchildren have been stalked and attacked across the Valley. A police task force was convened after a Nov. 3 rape of a 9-year-old girl.
