The school district here will sell more than 300 obsolete items including books, office furniture and audio-visual equipment next month, a spokeswoman said.

The surplus equipment, collected from the district’s 18 schools, will be available for inspection on Dec. 1 and 2 from noon to 3:30 p.m. at Midway City Elementary School, 8521 Hazard St. Bids on sale items may be submitted to the district administration office, 14121 Cedarwood Ave., until 10 a.m. Dec. 7, said spokeswoman Audrey Brown.

Bids will be opened Dec. 7, and successful bidders will be notified by mail. Tie bids will be decided by a drawing. The Westminster School District will accept cash or cashier’s checks and money orders made payable to the Westminster School District. All sales are subject to a 7.75% sales tax unless a resale permit is presented, Brown said.

Items for sale also include film and overhead projectors, record players, televisions, typewriters, desks, vacuums, tables and lighting and plumbing fixtures.

Brown said the district does not guarantee any of the items sold, and some items may need repairs. Proceeds from the sale will be used to improve district playgrounds and classrooms and help maintain buildings.
