San Fernando police arrested a man wanted on robbery and kidnaping charges in a Pasadena courtroom less than two months before the statute of limitations ended on the crime, authorities said.

Carlos Padilla Hernandez, 34, of El Monte was in court Friday awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to a July robbery in Monterey Park when San Fernando detectives arrested him for the 1990 robbery and kidnaping of a San Fernando woman, police said.

Both robberies were carried out against elderly Asian people, police said.

In the San Fernando robbery, three suspects assaulted a woman with an electrical device believed to be a stun gun, threw her in the back seat of her car, drove off and later robbed her, police said.

San Fernando detectives matched fingerprints taken from the scene of the San Fernando robbery with Hernandez’s fingerprints, which were entered into a statewide fingerprint identification system after his arrest in July, police said.

Hernandez is scheduled to be arraigned today in San Fernando Municipal Court, police said.

He is being held on $150,000 bail at San Fernando City Jail, police said.
