MCA Records Tabs Haedelt to Find New Artists

MCA Records has named Hans Haedelt manager of artists and repertoire, making him responsible for finding and developing new artists for the company.

Film sound specialists Dan O’Connell, Gary Hecker, Jimmy Asheill and Nerses Gezalyan have signed a long-term deal linking them with Sony Pictures to work in the studio’s post-production facilities.

The four are specialists in foley, which involves enhancing film sound through the duplication of basic sounds such as glass breaking, footsteps and other noises. “Cliffhanger” was the first film on which the four collaborated.

They will oversee development and management of three stages on the Sony lot and will work on Columbia and Tristar films. They will be allowed to work on non-Sony films and videos.

National Film Service, a film warehouse and shipping business, has named Terry Kierzek vice president of sales and marketing.

Atlantic Records has named Ken Weinstein associate director of media relations for alternative music.

Christopher Roberts has been named president of Polygram Classics & Jazz. He replaces David Weyner, who is leaving the company.

Shamrock Broadcasting Inc. in Burbank has named Mick Anselmo, general manager of its KEEY-FM and KFAN-AM radio stations in Minneapolis, a corporate vice president.

Drive Entertainment has named Arthur Braun executive vice president and general manager of its music publishing division.

Kathy Zeisel has been named Western division sales manager for Starcom Entertainment.

Former MCA Television senior vice president John E. Goldhammer has formed Goldhammer Productions, a television consulting business.

Turner Broadcasting System’s New York office has named Piper Parry vice president of public relations for Turner Entertainment Group and Howard Polskin vice president of public relations for news.

Canadian television producer Atlantis has named Kevin Shea president and chief operating officer.
