Rexon Inc., a Manhattan Beach-based producer of software and multimedia products with an office in Simi Valley, has signed a conditional agreement to acquire a Fresno software firm, Emeritus Technologies, for stock valued at $6.3 million.

Michael O. Preletz, Rexon’s chairman and chief executive, said the merger “should significantly increase our position in the Windows market” by combining Rexon’s graphic interface products with Emeritus’ software.

The purchase, expected to be completed by the end of this month, will be paid for with 350,000 shares of Rexon common stock and a new issue of convertible preferred shares.
