From Times Staff and Wire Reports

The German auto maker on Friday will unveil the results of the investigation into alleged industrial espionage by its head of production and purchasing, Jose Ignacio Lopez de Arriortua, a company spokeswoman said. German auditors KPMG Deutsche Treuhand Gesellschaft had been asked by VW’s supervisory board to examine Adam Opel’s accusations that Lopez took confidential business documents with him when he left General Motors Corp. for VW earlier this year. Opel is the German subsidiary of GM. KPMG’s study is expected to show that some GM materials were entered into VW computers but that they were not secret, the Wall Street Journal reported, quoting sources close to the company. Public prosecutors are continuing their own investigations.
