RAP NOW COOL: Rowdiness inside--and a shooting outside--Anaheim’s Celebrity Theatre during an Ice Cube rap concert three years ago led management to generally drop rap music. But now rap is back, with LL Cool J (OC LIVE!) as the first black rap headliner there since then. . . . Reason: He’s not considered a hard-core, gang-oriented rapper. Explains promoter Nick Masters: “LL is a pop artist. He has no history of problems.”

THEY LIKE MIKE: Thanksgiving weekend means a huge turnout at amusement parks here. And at Disneyland, the “Captain Eo” 3-D science-fiction video still draws big--despite the hoopla surrounding its star, Michael Jackson. . . . The pop artist has remained abroad ever since a child molestation accusation against him surfaced. Disney spokesman Lindsay Schnebly says: “We would never act based on allegations and speculation.” “Captain Eo” is in its seventh year there.

BEYOND WATER: Janet Evans of Placentia is always going to be known for those gold medals for swimming in the 1988 and 1992 Olympics. But the California Daughters of the American Revolution considers her a winner away from the water. . . . She recently won its annual “Young American” award. The group noted her work for homeless children, multiple sclerosis causes and anti-drug campaigns. Says a spokeswoman: “Janet is a true role model.”

BEYOND THE ICE: Mighty Ducks radio play-by-play announcer Matt McConnell and Jennifer Lockard will be married Monday, an off-day for the National Hockey League team. The ceremony will be performed by Superior Court Judge William W. Bedsworth, who moonlights as a goal judge at Ducks games. . . . Friends are joking that they should turn on a siren and red light after the vows. “I’ve heard ‘em all,” McConnell says. They plan to have a formal church wedding next summer in Pittsburgh but didn’t want to be separated during the season after McConnell landed the Ducks job.
