Standard Brands Closing 30 More Stores: The company, which filed for bankruptcy protection last year, will close 30 more stores and lay off 700 more employees by spring. Torrance-based Standard Brands Paint Co., which had 135 retail stores in seven Western states when it filed for bankruptcy protection in February, 1992, will only have 50 stores remaining next spring.
