Daniel J. Krumm, 67, who led Maytag Corp. to become a global appliance business. He retired last year as chairman after 40 years with the company. A native of Sioux City, Iowa, Krumm joined the company in 1952 as a sales analyst. He went on to manage Maytag’s European operations and was named vice president in 1971, president and treasurer in 1972, and chief executive in 1974. When Maytag acquired Magic Chef in 1986, Krumm assumed the title of chairman and chief executive officer. He headed Maytag as it grew and then nearly doubled in 1989 with the acquisition of the Chicago Pacific Corp., which made Hoover brand appliances. On Monday in Des Moines, Iowa, of cancer.
