THE PUNK LIFE: Never mind Pearl Jam. Here’s the Sex Pistols--again.

Priority Records President Bryan Turner has joined Sex Pistols leader Johnny Rotten, a.k.a. John Lydon, to produce what promises to be the ultimate documentary on the late-’70s punk-rock superstars, whose influence has been cited by everyone from Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain to U2’s Bono.

The documentary will utilize recently uncovered footage shot by director Julien Temple when he was a London film school student, using cameras he “borrowed” from the school. Temple will direct the still untitled movie, which is scheduled to come out as a theatrical release in the fall of ’94.

“There’s film of them walking on stage at a club and immediately being drenched in a sea of spit,” said Turner, who will release the film under his Priority Films banner.

Among the other highlights of the raw footage are a never-before-seen, 45-minute interview with Sid Vicious and a 30-minute interview with his infamous girlfriend Nancy Spungen that Temple conducted in London’s Hyde Park.

“Nancy has sunglasses on because Sid broke her nose the night before,” Turner said. “He punched her in the face and her eyes are black and blue. And she’s talking all about it in the interview.”

In addition, Temple shot footage of the band being arrested after performing on a London ferry, as well as a very young Billy Idol watching the band perform, his jaw dropping in disbelief.
