FULLERTON : 3 Donors Honored at School Assembly

Share

Appreciation awards have been given at Acacia Elementary School to honor three organizations that donate services to the school and teach students the importance of giving thanks.

Representatives from the Fullerton Public Library and the Assistance League of Fullerton and the superintendent of the Fullerton School District received the first “Community Appreciation Awards” at an assembly last month that was packed with students.

“This program gives the school the opportunity to thank community organizations and individuals who have had a positive impact on the students,” Principal Georgia Menges said. “The whole idea was intended to have the children learn to value the contributions of others.”

The library provides reference help for students doing reports and sponsors book talks, summer and after-school programs for the children and displays their artwork.

The Assistance League sponsors programs in which needy students’ families receive clothing, Christmas presents, free vision screening and other medical attention.

The Fullerton School District provides free bus service for family events at Acacia, art classes and weekend gardeners to weed the fields around the school to reduce suffering by allergic schoolchildren.
