Coroner Rules That Baby’s Death Was a Homicide
A coroner’s autopsy Sunday concluded that a year-old girl was a homicide victim, prompting El Monte police to question the child’s mother, officials said.
Geide Beatrice Casares died Dec. 3. Her body showed multiple bruises on the abdomen and skull, Detective Steve Reneer said.
After the Los Angeles County coroner’s office notified police of their findings, investigators Sunday questioned the child’s mother and three men who were at the family’s El Monte apartment. As of Sunday evening, no arrests had been made, Lt. Chuck Fullington said.
The mother, whose name was not released, was apparently at work when the child was hurt 10 days ago, Reneer said. Investigators had not yet contacted the girl’s father, he added.
