PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE NFL : Hard-Luck Kicker Is Cut by Eagles
Kicker Matt Bahr was released by the Philadelphia Eagles, who might bring back Roger Ruzek--the kicker Bahr replaced after the second game of the season.
Bahr missed five of his last eight field goal attempts, including a 21-yarder and a 45-yarder, the latter on the last play of Sunday’s 10-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Three of Bahr’s last four kicks hit goal posts.

Quarterback Jim Kelly (sprained left ankle) and running back Thurman Thomas (bruised forearm) probably will be ready for the Buffalo Bills’ AFC East showdown Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, Coach Marv Levy said. . . . Jim Harbaugh’s passing hand wasn’t seriously injured against Tampa Bay on Sunday and the Chicago Bear quarterback might play against the Denver Broncos. . . . Mark Rypien, benched last month, will return as the Washington Redskins’ starting quarterback against the Atlanta Falcons.
