Dr. William H. Eisman, 71; U.S.-Vietnam Peace Activist

Dr. William H. Eisman, 71, peace activist who co-chaired the U.S.-Vietnam Friendship Assn. A dentist by profession, Eisman in the 1950s provided a pioneering dental plan for children of longshoremen in Southern California. In 1972, he organized the first dental care center for the Sonoma County Indian Health Project. He and his wife, Beatrice, helped found the U.S.-Vietnam group in 1979 and co-chaired it until his death. The organization strives to normalize relations between the United States and Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Eisman traveled frequently to Vietnam and established a children’s dental project to provide toothbrushes and other equipment to Vietnamese children.
