Cavaliers Mills Hospitalized After Irregular Heartbeat
Rookie forward Chris Mills of Cleveland was hospitalized Thursday night for an irregular heartbeat after the Cavaliers lost to the Miami Heat, 90-89.
Mills was taken by ambulance to Palmetto General Hospital. He was seen clutching his chest as he left the court after the game and was given an electrocardiogram in the locker room.
“He had heart flutterings and was very short of breath and we’re very concerned right now,” Cavalier Coach Mike Fratello said.
Dr. Allan Herskowitz, the Heat team physician, examined Mills. “He is not in any distress or danger. They are going to keep him overnight as a precautionary measure and see what the tests show,” he said.
Mills played 24 minutes with six points and three rebounds. He started 18 consecutive games before Thursday, when he was replaced on the first unit by Danny Ferry, who finished with no points, one rebound and two fouls in 12 minutes.
