Some Christmas tree facts:
* About 35 million trees--real ones, not plastic--are sold in the United States each year.
* Most Christmas trees sold in California are raised on commercial tree farms in Oregon and Washington.
* Living trees account for 5% to 7% of total sales, or 1.7 million to 2.4 million a year.
* Living trees should not be kept inside too long. Experts say that a stay of more than about five days is likely to kill a tree.
