Good Use of the INS
I never thought that I would agree with an L.A. Times editorial, but your piece about the Immigration and Naturalization Service riding the buses in Santa Ana was right on. (“Fighting the Wrong Front,” Dec. 15).
This practice is a public hazard, and is about as harebrained as the checkpoint at San Onofre on the San Diego Freeway.
If the INS really wants to do some good, they should put immigration officers in each of the welfare offices.
