The high ratings for the “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” hit television show are inspiring others to get into the act. DIC Entertainment will join with All American Television and Japan’s Tsuburaya Productions to produce their own live-action super-hero show for kids with an emphasis on high tech. The group will produce 40 half-hour shows of “Powerboy” for fall, 1994. The series is set to star Matthew Lawrence from the current film “Mrs. Doubtfire” as a computer whiz and guitar player who “stumbles onto a portal to the digital universe,” where he finds “monster megaviruses” controlled by a nasty warlord. The series is expected to be heavy on special effects, computer technology and stop-action animation.

Separately, DIC has agreed to produce for the Family Channel 52 new episodes of “Wishkid,” the channel’s highest-rated cartoon.
