Arcadia : Multilingual Statement Fee

Share

Candidates for three Arcadia City Council seats up for election April 12 will have to pay extra if they want multilingual candidate statements included in sample ballots, the city clerk said.

Candidates who want their statements printed in English, Chinese and Spanish may have to pay as much as $1,000 for materials, City Clerk June Alford said. Statements in English will cost $350.

Candidates are not required by law to include statements with the sample ballot.

However, a copy of each candidate’s statement in all three languages will be available at City Hall for viewing to comply with new federal laws to provide election information in languages spoken by at least 1% of the community’s population, Alford said.
