Robertson Bid for Nostalgia Extended

Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson’s bid to acquire the Nostalgia Network keeps getting murkier.

International Family Entertainment, controlled by Robertson and his son, Tim, on Wednesday said that about 5.7 million shares of common stock--or more than 25%--had been tendered as part of an offer of $2 a share--or $40 million--for the company’s common stock. The Robertson group announced Thursday that it is extending its bid until Jan. 5, and has said it may raise its offer.

But Nostalgia, a cable television channel that appeals to people 45 and older, continues to resist. This week, it advised shareholders not to tender their shares, and it has raised questions about price and conditions of the Robertson offer.
