Nothing Like Badgering an Angry Badger Fan

This is in response to Wisconsinite Irwin Miller, who was apparently deeply offended by Mike Downey’s tongue-in-cheek column about Miller’s home state. I’m an educator by profession, and if I were to verbalize my reaction to your recent letter in the form of a multiple-choice question, it would go something like this:
Irwin:
(a) has no sense of humor.
(b) doesn’t realize when someone is pulling his leg.
(c) is overly sensitive.
(d) isn’t at all familiar with Mike Downey.
(e) all of the above.
Oh, by the way, Irwin, wagering too much currency on the Badgers on New Year’s Day could be hazardous to your financial health.

Having recently relocated in California, I feel compelled to respond on behalf of Mr. Downey concerning letters from Wisconsin residents and fans.
Have the Wisconsin people no sense of decency or respect for what he has already accomplished?
Are they aware that a California city and a fabric softener have been named after him?
