A Heroic Performance

Mariah Carey is still reaping the benefits of all that exposure on her TV special and tour, with her “Music Box” album climbing to the top of The Times’ Southern California pop album chart. Carey’s single, “Hero,” moved up two notches to No. 2 on the pop singles chart. The Cranberries, featuring Dolores O’Riordan, have a hot album in “Everybody Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?,” which jumped five rungs to No. 10. It’s getting a strong boost from the group’s single, “Linger,” which is No. 13 on the pop singles chart. Harry Connick Jr.’s “When My Heart Finds Christmas” (No. 9) is still the top holiday album.
