Legislative Wisdom

Let’s hear it for Rep. Elton Gallegly. Recently, he lost a battle to keep the FDA from protecting consumers from fraud through mislabeling and from personal danger from unsafe products. He has rebounded quickly and creatively by now proposing a law to jail people who harm the dogs used by the U. S. Border Patrol.

Clearly, this bill is so strategic in concept that it should move to the top of the list of bills proposed to deal with immigration problems.

The good judgment and wisdom of Mr. Gallegly in this bill goes a long way in helping us understand why Congress is so highly regarded and why we see that body as likely to solve the nation’s problems such as crime, drugs, education, health care, etc.

Maybe Mr. Gallegly will soon author a compensation bill to protect the kitty cats owned by law enforcement officers--a crying need of almost equal urgency.
