Rabbi Marshall T. Meyer, 63, a leading voice of American Jewish liberalism. Eight years ago Meyer founded Tikkun, a liberal journal that has become one of the most widely read Jewish periodicals in the country. Meyer lived for 25 years in Argentina, where he founded what is now the largest Jewish congregation in Buenos Aires. In 1962, he began the first rabbinical seminary in South America. Meyer was also a forceful critic of the military dictatorship that seized power in Argentina in 1976, and he and his family were harassed and threatened.
