AEROSPACE: The shrinkage will continue as cuts in Pentagon spending take their toll. Widespread layoffs, though not as severe as in the past three years, will continue among defense contractors. Cost-cutting will fuel gains in defense firms’ profits. Meanwhile, commercial jet builders and suppliers face more rough sledding.
