From Times Staff and Wire Reports

1.1 Million Vehicles Recalled by Ford: The auto maker said it is notifying owners of certain 1989 through 1993 Taurus, Sable and Continental cars of the voluntary recall. In regions where vehicles are exposed to large amounts of road salt and moisture, body mounts at the rear corners of the sub-frame that supports the engine and transmission may corrode and separate. If both mounts separate, the rear of the sub-frame can drop and steering may become difficult. Ford executives said the company is aware of one report of this condition in the United States and four in Canada, none of which resulted in accident or injury.
