RETAIL AND RESTAURANTS : Director of Mondavi Wine Center Hops to New Beer Job

Joyce Barela, director of the Robert Mondavi Wine & Food Center in Costa Mesa since 1989, is leaving to start a small brewery in Denver.
“I’m very excited about the growth of quality microbrews, and I find many parallels to the art of enjoying wine,” Barela wrote in the Wine & Food Center’s recent newsletter. “Who knows, maybe someday I’ll be operating a Beer and Food Center!”
The center, which soon will choose a replacement for Barela, has hired two new team members: John Hewson as assistant chef and Tim Setzer as operations supervisor.
