Share

A late-night argument in front of a Fillmore house ended with one man being shot in the hand as he tried to wrestle a gun away from another man, authorities said.

Sheriff’s deputies have made no arrests in the shooting that occurred about 11:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of Palm Street.

“It’s a matter of piecing together what kind of crime has been committed, if any,” said Lt. Craig Husband.

Edmundo Robles, 28, initially refused medical treatment for the minor gunshot wound on his left hand but later went to a hospital for care.

Robles first told deputies he had fallen and scraped his hand but later admitted being shot.

The shooting occurred as Robles and his brother, Miguel Robles, 27, argued with Santiago Navarro, 20, in the front yard of the Robles home, authorities said.

Smith said Navarro had left the scene by the time deputies arrived. When he was picked up a short time later, he did not have a weapon with him, officials said.
