SPEED KILLS: Two UC Riverside students died Thursday when an alleged drunk driver ran a red light at Corbin Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard (B1), the site of a Christmas Day crash that took another life. . . . Despite complaints from neighbors and the succession of fatal crashes, police and city officials say there is little they can do to make the intersection safer.

WALKING TALL: They’re just 15 and only freshmen, but identical twins Jason and Jarron Collins from Granada Hills have transformed Harvard-Westlake High into a basketball power. The Wolverines are 13-0 this season (C12). . . . How do you distinguish Jason (6-foot-8) from Jarron (6-foot-7)? It’s the shoes. Jason wears high-tops.

HOLLYWOOD CALLING: What you see on big and small screens may well have been filmed in a neighborhood near you. . . . For decades, the San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys have appeared so often in blockbuster movies, TV series, videos and commercials that if they don’t deserve Oscars for supporting roles, somebody should at least give them their very own stars on Hollywood Boulevard. F/X KID: The gory, horrific film “Nightmare on Elm Street” didn’t scare Josh Brezner as much as inspire him. He enrolled in movie makeup and special effects classes, and now the 15-year-old Van Nuys High School sophomore has credits in more than 30 productions, including student films, a Hollywood play and a music video for Ethyl Meatplow. THE SHOWS GO ON: The last thing that Van Nuys High needed was to hear that the Alex Theatre in Glendale will stage “Mame,” the same musical the school plans for its spring production. Last year, the school was forced to scrap “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” when a group with production rights refused to give permission. But no problem this year, school officials say.
