COUNTYWIDE : UC Extension Knows When to Sow, Reap

Share

Want to know when to plant cucumbers or what type of tomatoes grow best in your area?

The University of California Cooperative Extension has the answers to these and other gardening questions. The department maintains an extensive list of pamphlets, books and other publications on a variety of topics.

“The main purpose is to disseminate information to farmers and local residents,” said William N. Miller, who works in the information services division of the Department of Agriculture.

The extension service also has a program to help low-income residents improve their nutrition and stretch their budgets through careful shopping and oversees the local 4-H program.
