FHP International Corp.’s latest marketing effort is on ice.

The health maintenance organization, based in Fountain Valley, hopes that by advertising at the newly built Anaheim Arena, it can warm up to potential customers for its fast-growing medical services.

Two months ago, the company began touting itself by displaying its distinctive blue logo on center ice at the arena, home of the NHL’s expansion hockey team, the Mighty Ducks.

FHP spokesman Eric Morely said the company signed a three-year contract with Walt Disney Co., owner of the Mighty Ducks, four months ago for an undisclosed sum. The ad is seen every time the hockey players skate past the center of the arena.

Other perks include having FHP’s name in programs and on a new marquee to be erected at the end of the month. The kicker will be on Jan. 24, when hockey fans will receive hockey pucks with FHP’s logo engraved on them.
